The ‘Hanger Steak’, also known as the ‘Butcher Steak” is one of the less known cuts of beef. It is a tasty cut that takes a lot of preparation and trimming but the final outcome is well worth the effort. In this episode of Grilling with Shine, Sven Mcoy shows how to trim and grill this great cut in a special Beer-Wine-Shine marinate. If you find this cut, you will want to try this recipe.

grilled hanger steak in beer-wine-moonshine marinade
STEP ONE
-
remove the silver off the steak

trim off extra fat and gristle
-
seperate the hanger steak into two parts
STEP TWO
-
prepare the marinade:
-
pour wine, beer & moonshine into large zip marinating bag
-
add nice olive oil and have a sip of beer
-
add worchester and fresh ground pepper
-
add fresh rosemary and chopped chives
-
add crushed garlic and top with dashes of lime bitters
STEP THREE
-
seal marinating bag and put in fridge
-
let sit for 2-4 hours
-
rotate every 15 minutes when you get a fresh beer
STEP FOUR
-
bring grill up to high
-
remove hanger steak from bag
-
put on hot grill and cook each side 4-5 minutes
STEP FIVE
-
let sit for 10 minutes
-
cross cut into think slices and enjoy with a lovely bold red wine

Marinade

4-12 oz Toro Bravo Tempranillo Merlot
4-6 oz of Boneshaker Strong Beer by Amsterdam Brewery

4-12 oz of Copperhead Distillery Magnetawan Rye Moonshine
-
8 dashes of Dillon’s Lime Bitters
-
fresh ground black steak pepper
-
fresh chives
-
fresh rosemary
-
4 cloves of garlic
