When should a brand play it safe? NEVER!!!

In this world of hyper-over-sensitivity there has never been a better time to not play it safe.

No one ever remembers a bland brand.

No one ever recalls a lifeless message.

If you want to hide… then play it safe, and don’t have an opinion.

Marketing is all about making a statement by owning a difference. Your brand will get attention by standing out from the crowd and not blending in.

As the Christmas season kicks into full swing, We find the ultra political correctness trying to change what we can listen to and what we should watch. We hear that traditional songs like “Baby It’s Cold Outside” are being banned from ‘play it safe’ radio stations. Then the animated tv classic “Rudolf” is being attacked for promoting bullying!

To quote the famous Canadian actor, writer and musician, William Shatner “Come on people get a life!”

It’s Christmas time. It’s time to look for the good in the world.

Christmas is an amazing opportunity for brands to stand bold and show what they believe in. A chance to shake their tree and raise their Yuletide flag high.

If your brand believes in Santa or the birth of Christ or Hanukkah or whatever share it… don’t hide behind a lame ‘seasons greetings’.

Don’t give up your traditions because some group says you have to….

Here’s is our take on the classic “Baby It’s Cold Outside” by say what! communications co-founder JoJo with the Oshawa based jazz band Combo Number 5 + 5.

Have a Merry Christmas and happy branding New Years, from all ya political incorrect elves at Say What!
