Eastwood Guitars “World’s Ugliest Guitar Contest”
Say What! created the “World’s Ugliest Guitar Contest” to target the unique and individual humour of the “I get it” Eastwood Guitars audience – while gathering the attention of the international guitar world.
The concept is simple. Let guitar players choose the World’s Ugliest Guitar. This was accomplished by getting guitar players from around the globe voting from a group of eight very strange retro guitars on which one is the “Ugliest”.
To enable this online contest, we developed a social media campaign, along with media support through press releases and a facebook ad campaign that drives all channels to the online voting.
The contest was set for a three month period, with the promise of whichever of the guitars ended up with the most votes, Eastwood Guitars would produce a limited edition run of 24 numbered guitars and one of them would go to one lucky entry.
Through the use of a facebook photo sharing app and customized programming, the World’s Ugliest Guitar was launched and gained instant traction, becoming a viral success.
